Commercial Power Washing Maintenance Plans: What to Clean Monthly vs Quarterly vs Annually
Your business’s appearance may be the first impression a customer has, so it’s important to keep it clean. Customers see clean businesses as professional, organized, and trustworthy. Staying on top of power washing your commercial property gives customers the right impression. Creating a comprehensive power washing maintenance plan can be overwhelming at first, but ultimately takes the stress of regular maintenance off your shoulders so you can focus on day-to-day operations.
Storefronts, Entries, and Windows
While every building has unique needs, based on foot traffic, building materials, and environmental factors, we generally recommend power washing storefronts, entryways, and windows quarterly.
If you have a high-traffic business, you may need to power wash your entries more frequently, depending on the building materials. Wooden doors can be damaged by frequent power washing, while glass doors pick up fingerprints and look dirtier faster.
Storefronts in heavily wooded areas might need to be power-washed every other month, if weather and wildlife kick up more dirt.
Loading Areas, Dumpster Pads, Sidewalks, and Parking Lots
How often you clean loading areas, dumpster pads, and parking lots depends on your business type and how much you use each.
If you regularly use loading areas, especially if you handle organic or messy materials, they should be cleaned at least quarterly. If you rarely use loading areas, annual cleanings should suffice.
Dumpster pads should be cleaned quarterly at a minimum. If your business creates a lot of trash, you may need to power-wash dumpster pads monthly. Businesses in the food industry and industries that produce a lot of messy, harmful, or organic waste might even wash their dumpster pads weekly. On average, we recommend cleaning dumpster pads monthly.
Sidewalks should be cleaned quarterly, while Parking lots typically need to be cleaned annually. High-traffic businesses might need to clean their parking lots twice a year and their sidewalks monthly. You might decide to squeeze in an extra cleaning after a particularly rough winter or a pollen-heavy summer.
Roofs and Awnings
Roofs and awnings have the most standard cleaning needs. In most cases, they should be cleaned annually. As with any aspect of commercial cleaning, external factors can necessitate more frequent cleaning, but we don’t often see this with roofs and awnings. Typically, an annual cleaning is enough to remove organic buildup without causing damage.
